 The South African Council for the Architectural professions (SACAP) has been inundated with emails from architectural graduates who are struggling to find work to commence mentorship program. The reality is that the built environment has been stagnant for some time now and the severe impact of Covid-19 has aggravated things. It is not startling that so many candidates cannot secure mentorship. SACAP humbly requests recognized Voluntary Associations to encourage their members, in particular, the principals of practices who can absorb some candidates to do so. We are currently engaging Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) to allocate funding for mentorship. We believe that the funding will alleviate some financial pressure on principal of practices on the appointment and mentoring of candidates. Once the funding by CETA is approved, we will be in touch again with the principals of practices to collaborate for the development of candidates through mentorship. |
