Central Square at Menlyn Maine
Strolling down the walkways in Central Square at Menlyn Maine is an experience full of surprises, thanks to clever design by dsgn™.
Walking through Central Square at Menlyn Maine, one gets the feeling that you are strolling down a high-end fashion street in a big city. The courtyards, with their greenery and open glass ceilings, reinforce the open, outside feel, and many of the shops and restaurants look out over the open air piazza.

What is urban design?
According to the Urban Design Institute of South Africa (UDISA) Urban Design is both a specialised and an integrated profession. The unique focus of Urban Design lies in the understanding of three-dimensional form and space in cities and settlements, together with their relationship of form to land, context, societies and history.
PIA Architects Receive Highest Honours
AWARDS OF
EXCELLENCE
As a custodian of architecture, the Pretoria Institute for Architecture is delighted with the performance of our member architects at the recent SAIA Corobrik Awards. Following several rounds of adjudication, a panel comprising prominent architects and academics endowed only the best projects. On the 1st of August, two Pretoria firms received Awards for Excellence – the highest honour for South African architects.
What do you like
about our city?
Cool capital is the world’s first non-curated DIY guerrilla biennale (creative festival.) The Biennale will happen throughout the capital city from 29th August – 16th November. During this time, Tshwane will explode with colours, inspiration, art, design architecture, people and culture.
Fresh Insight needed
It is estimated that 80% of our population will live in cities by 2050. We face immense environmental, social and architectural challenges linked to this rapid urbanisation – especially in Gauteng. Imaginative infrastructure solutions will be needed for society to operate effectively in a humanised environment where community values are respected.

You are invited to join us at this years’ annual PIA Presidents Breakfast, hosted by Pres. Faan Nel.

PIA Architects Receive Highest Honours
AWARDS OF
EXCELLENCE
As a custodian of architecture, the Pretoria Institute for Architecture is delighted with the performance of our member architects at the recent SAIA Corobrik Awards. On the 1st of August, two Pretoria firms received Awards for Excellence – the highest honour for South African architects.
What do you like
about our city?

Fresh Insight needed

Imaginative infrastructure solutions will be needed for society to operate effectively in a humanised environment where community values are respected.
PIA President’s Breakfast
You are invited to join us at this years’ annual PIA Presidents Breakfast, hosted by Pres. Faan Nel.
