Vision of the Department
To provide a learning environment that fosters critical and independent thinking, and encourages and inspires responsive and responsible problem solving that contributes to the betterment of society and its environment.
Mission of the Department
To offer a rounded education, not just training, in order to produce technically competent graduates with the attributes and skills necessary to flourish in the rapidly changing world of the 21st century: an agile mindset, a holistic perspective, a capacity for critical reflection and complex problem solving, and the ability to envision different possible futures outside of the constraints of current practice, as well as empathy, personal adaptability and emotional intelligence.
Duration
Bachelor of Science: Architecture
– Minimum duration of study: 3 years
Criteria
(i)A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Independent Examination Board (IEB) Admission
Point Score (APS) of 27 out of a possible 42 (end of Grade 11 results for conditional
selection, final Grade 12 results for applicants who have already matriculated) calculated
according to the UP formula – see https://bit.ly/2022Admission for details – and
(ii) Matriculation exception for admission to bachelor’s degree studies, and
(iii) at least 60% (achievement level 5) in English (as Home or First Additional Language), and
(iv) at least 50% (achievement level 4) for Mathematics, and
(iv) at least 50% (achievement level 4) for Physical Science (with Physics and Chemistry).
Please note, as a new member, there will be a once-off administrative fee of R150-00.
